BLESSED LIFE CHURCH

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Blessed Life Church, Bellevue WA

  1. The Bible

We believe the 66 books which comprise the Old and New Testaments to be the verbal plenary inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed.      II Tim. 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21; Matt.5:18

  1. The Godhead

We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons -Father, Son, Holy Spirit -co-equal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfection. Deut 6:4; II Cor. 13:14

  1. The Person and Work of Christ
  1. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. John 1:1-2, 14; Luke. 1:35
  2. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. Rom. 3:24-25; I Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7; I Peter 1:3-5
  3. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Acts 1:9-10; Heb. 9:24; 7:25; Rom. 8:34; I John 2:l-2
  1. The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. John 16:8-11; II Cor. 3:6; I Cor. 12:12-14; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 1:13-14

  1. Salvation
    1. We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
    2. Man is lost and cannot merit any favor with Eph. 2:8-10; John 1:12; I Peter 1:18-19
  2. Eternal Security and Assurance of Believers

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.                                                                 John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 38-39; I Cor. 1:4-8; I Peter 1:5

  1. Church Ordinances
    1. We believe that baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, to show forth in a beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life in Christ. 28:39-20; I Peter 3:21
    2. Other modes of believer’s baptism are accepted but we will only practice
    3. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration of His death until He comes I Cor. 11:23-32
    4. We believe that both of these ordinances are to be practiced in this present church age until His coming for the church.
  1. The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the literal, physical return of Jesus Christ back to earth to establish His Millennial kingdom. I Thess. 4:13-18; 1:10; 5:9; Rev. 3:10; 19:11-16; 20:1-6

  1. Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality
    1. We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. Gen. 1:26-27
    2. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Gen. 2:18-25
    3. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including, but not limited to: adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10
    4. We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of BLC as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to BLC members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by BLC in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:14-16; 1 Thess. 5:22
    5. We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Acts 3:19-21; Rom. 10:9-10; 1 Cor. 6:9-11
    6. We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and Hateful and harassing behaviors or attitude directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accordance with Scripture, nor the doctrines of BLC. Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31
  1. Sanctity of Human Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including fetuses, pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human lives.                                                                                                                                Psalm 139
